Trip to America 2024
It was a sweet send-off from Windy Hill. Njeroge and family said their goodbyes, and we took off for Nairobi.
When we arrived, we met Jess and Janet Peek, who allowed us to share a 28-story condo in the middle of town. Jess and Janet are our closest Muzungu (Caucasian) friends in Nakuru.
There was a big thunderstorm that night that flooded a lot of low-lying places around the condo. Some unfortunate cars were inundated.
Our flight wasn’t until almost midnight the next day. After the nine-and-a-half-hour trip to Frankfurt, Germany, we had a four-hour layover and then another three-hour layover after arriving in Chicago. Overall, the trip was without delays or challenges, and we thank God for that! To say the least, we were very tired, but the only thing remaining was the two-hour flight to Raleigh, North Carolina, and hugging the family.
After turning Daniel back over to his nanny dog, Roxie, we collapsed into some well-deserved sleep.
On a sadder note, we received the heartbreaking news from Njeroge that another Leopard killed my sweet German shepherd ‘Hatari.’ He’s the one on my left in this picture.
Lastly… the main reason for this trip is medical. For the last 6 months, I have suffered from very painful, swollen lymph glands. I have had many tests in Kenya, but I have been advised by a local doctor not to trust the results of the local tests. So … here we are in America to find out what’s going on. Please pray for me. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, and we shall see what we see.
Please don’t overly worry, as I am in His Hands and there is no safer place to be.
Much love
