Something to Think About

[Note: In the previous post, we posted a teaching from David Noah Taylor. David finished his time on the earth and passed away into eternity in June 2024, and we will no longer hear his voice. We wanted to share his teachings with you by posting them here. Although the first teaching, Spirit, Soul, and Body, posted in January, was long, it was his favorite teaching. In the future, posts will be shorter. The longer teachings will be given to you as a series for easier reading.]
I (Cynthia) found this little tidbit folded in his bible. In his final days on this earth, he spent time examining himself and the state of the world.
This is one of his reflections:
“They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.” Titus 1:16
Three Questions:
- If people had to determine your love for Christ, solely based on your actions and lifestyle... what would they say? Would they describe your love as passionate… lukewarm… or hardly cares?
- Judged solely by what you put up on the internet, would people conclude you promoted yourself... or Christ more?
- Judged solely by what you spent your money on, could people see that you seek first the Kingdom of God or the kingdom of self?
The narcissistic world we live in is deadly to our spiritual lives. Unreality marks the last age of the church. The source of the problem is primarily not what we have done, but rather how we view ourselves. Without revelation from God concerning our personal spiritual reality... we are setting ourselves up for a major unpleasant surprise. Never forget….
What we say is only what we think… what we do is what we believe.
“If you say, 'Surely we did not know this.' Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” Proverbs 24:12
“For many nations and great kings shall be served by them also; and I will repay them according to their deeds and according to the works of their own hands.” Jeremiah 25:14
And for those who think that is just Old Testament thinking…
“And this is the condemnation (judgement), that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their own deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” John 3:19-21
But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgement of God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”; eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness - indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God. Romans 2:5-12

Within the New Testament, there are many other verses substantiating this truth... anyway…that is for disciples only.
