A little over two years ago, we met missionary Mark Moore. When coming to Kenya, he always wanted to stay in our house. We loved his passion and zeal for the Lord. A good friendship was formed and all the families living in Windy Hill Community enjoyed his warm fellowship. After some time Mark decided to build a house within our community and live the rest of his life with us. Mark financed the project so we began to build the house and completing it almost halfway.

Yet, sadly last year Mark began to feel very ill and was diagnosed with aggressive Leukemia. Doctors did what they could, but Mark could not take the rigors of chemotherapy and wanted to return to Kenya. When he realized that he was close to passing he gave us the half-built house and asked if we would use it for ministry.

We decided to make it an AirBnB and use the income for helping the widows and abandoned women’s ministry. Living just outside the beautiful Lake Nakuru National game park, there will be many people wanting to stay there.

We need to finish the inside kitchen, living room, 2nd bedroom and 2nd bathroom. The outside is almost completely finished and the master bedroom is already completed and being used to accommodate guests even now. The house will also be great for anyone coming from America for a visit.

Over the past few months we have done the best we can, utilizing any extra donations in continuing construction but … a lot has changed economically in those few months. Cost of electricity in Kenya has risen 40% and worldwide inflation has seriously affected donations. We totally understand when this happens and know that our Father will always provide, yet, we feel like He wants us to make known this special need.

The widows and abandon women ministry has been one of the most fruitful we have undertaken. We provide food programs, build some of them small houses, add bathrooms to existing houses, and fund self-help businesses for their sustainability.

Bottom line we need help to finish the construction. Because of the uncertainty of the times we live in we have been trying to become self-sustainable. Once the AirBnB is up and running it will help this become a reality.
